Lake County Branch NAACP unveils Juneteenth celebration plans - The News - Herald
The Lake County Branch NAACP is celebrating Juneteenth June 19-21.
The kickoff begins at 6 p.m. June 19 at The New Hope Baptist Church, 428 West Jackson St. in Painesville. It will be an evening of celebration and information featuring choirs, soloists, guest speakers and awards, according to a news release.
June 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. is Youth NAACP Extravaganza, featuring electronic car demonstrations, S.T.E.M. exhibits, drum performance, and food. Events take place at the NAACP Branch Office at 8 N. State St. in Painesville and in the parking lot.
On June 21, Juneteenth events kick off at 8 a.m. with a parade beginning at St. John’s Baptist Church, 361 West Jackson St. and ending at Veterans’ Park in Painesville. Ismeal Jackson and Destinee White, two NAACP Scholarship recipients for 2025, will lead the parade as Juneteenth King and Queen.
Festivities begin at 10 a.m., featuring musical entertainment, games, speakers, vendors, and food trucks.
