GENEVA, Ohio — Ferrante Winery & Ristorante in Ohio’s Grand River Valley received recognition from Forbes for having one of the best wines to pair with Thanksgiving.

Ferrante, 5585 State Route 307 in Geneva, is known for an impressive lineup of Ohio-made wines, particularly ice wine. Ice wine is a sweet, dessert wine made from grapes that are frozen while still on the vine to concentrate the sugar and flavor.

This month, Forbes recommended one of Ferrante’s ice wine bottles to complete a Thanksgiving Day meal.

Ferrante’s Vidal Blanc Ice Wine was listed as the best mid-range option, priced $20 to $39, for pairing with dessert on Forbes’ “The Perfect Wines to Pair with Thanksgiving’s Rich, Seasonal Flavors” list. Forbes picked the bottle for its notes of honey, melon and brown sugar that pair well with warm, spiced pecan or pumpkin pies.

Ferrante was the only Ohio-based winery to make the list this year and its ice wine was also highlighted for receiving multiple awards in recent years. Ferrante currently sells the Vidal Blanc for $34.99 (375 mL bottle, so there’s still time to grab one before Thursday to complete the Thanksgiving table.
