Tell us a little bit about yourself
I was born and raised in central Ohio and have called Columbus home for most of my adult life. I truly love my home state and find so much joy in inspiring others to get out and explore it. Through My Ohio Adventure, I share the places I go - whether it’s a cozy coffee shop, a favorite hiking trail, a hidden gem, or a seasonal outing - to help folks discover new spots and spark ideas for their own mini adventures and weekend getaways.
While I knew about Lake County, this was my first time there. I was so happy to finally check it off my bucket list - and I’ll definitely be back!
Tell us about your experience sailing. Have you ever been out on the water before?
As a kid, I took sailing lessons on the Scioto River in Dublin, Ohio, but on much smaller boats and I barely remember it! My trip with JEO Sailing felt like my first true sailing experience. Out on Lake Erie, the water feels as vast and awe-inspiring as the ocean. It’s hard to put into words, you just have to experience it!
How was Captain Jim with you during the sailing?
Jim is so fun, friendly and inviting. I felt right at home on his boat. He taught us a lot about sailing and his experiences on the water but also had a lot of interesting information to share about the area. I learned and laughed a lot!
Did you enjoy the sunset sailing? Would you have preferred to go out during the morning than the evening?
I’m so glad we sailed at sunset. I’m sure a morning sail would have been just as relaxing and beautiful, but there was something especially peaceful about ending the day out on the water.
Why would you recommend JEO Sailing to your friends?
JEO Sailing was such a unique way to watch the sun set over Lake Erie. I loved that it was part educational, part hands-on, and part just relaxing and soaking in the views. It was truly the perfect way to wind down after a busy week.
