MENTOR, Ohio – After less than a year operating a food truck, Chefs Javier and Sarah Hernandez opened Senor Masa on busy Mentor Avenue in Mentor. The restaurant is a tiny takeout spot with a few seats tucked into a strip center across from the Meijer Market on Mentor Avenue.

The menu leans into authentic Mexican without being cliché.

“My wife and I have been chefs for the past 20 years,” says Javier. “We have experience in different areas from restaurants to hotels. We always wanted to start our own business. It just made sense with the winter coming.”
