By: Tanya Hough

Lake Metroparks presents ‘The Sky’s the Limit,’ a fall art show featuring the imaginative and mesmerizing work of Tanya Hough. This special one-woman exhibition will be on display at Penitentiary Glen Nature Center from Saturday, August 16 through Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Hough was born and raised in Florida, where she developed a lifelong passion for capturing the natural world through art. She studied at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, honing her skills and developing a distinctive contemporary impressionist style. Her work uses bold brushwork and vibrant color to transform coastal scenes, familiar fauna and outdoor landscapes into expressive, eye-catching pieces full of movement and energy.

Acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil and mixed media are her focus at the moment, as is working primarily on medium to medium-large canvases. Her approach blends observation with imagination, creating works that celebrate both the natural world and her artistic interpretation of it.

Meet and talk with Hough herself at an opening reception on Saturday, August 16 from noon to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. No registration required.

Displayed artwork will be available for purchase. Admission is free. For more information, call 440-256-1404 or visit https://goto.lakemetroparks.com/fall-art-show.
