Tour Lake County, OH Kicks off 2026 Taco Trail

Wild Burrito- Madison, OH

(Painesville, OH) – Tour Lake County, OH, has officially kicked off the year-long, 2026 Taco Trail!

After more than 2,000 people traversed the Taco Trail in 2025, Tour Lake County looks to continue growing this tasty trail throughout 2026 which highlights and supports the 23 amazing, authentic Mexican restaurants throughout Lake County. New restaurants to the Taco Trail this year include Señor Masa in Mentor, a new Don Tequila location in Wickliffe, plus La Candelaria Mexican Restaurant and Johnny Gringo which are both in Painesville.

It is free to join the Lake County Taco Trail as participants can download the 2026 version of the digital pass on their smartphone at tourlakecounty.com/tacotrail or ElCaminoDeTacos.com. Participants earn 150 points by eating at one of the four Tour Lake County member-restaurants or 100 points at all other participating restaurants. Once someone earns 1,200 points, they will earn a FREE Taco Trail T-shirt. This year’s T-shirt is black with a new design featuring the Taco Trail logo along with the phrase “Tacos, Vibes & Guac on the Side.”

Denise ODonnell - 2025 Tour Lake County tacos for year winner

In addition to earning a free T-shirt, anyone who earns 1,200 points will also be entered into a drawing to win free tacos for a year! The winner of free tacos from 2025 was Denise O'Donnell from Madison, Ohio. When asked about the Taco Trail, Denise said, "I receive emails from Tour Lake County talking about area events. The Taco Trail was a way to get out with my girlfriends and try different restaurants. I did it last year and had so much fun so I’m looking forward to doing it again this year. I was just happy to finish and receive a T-shirt but winning tacos for a year was even better!!"

Elyse Downie, Events & Engagement Manager at Tour Lake County says “Lake County sure loves its tacos! We generated a lot of excitement last year as we broke our record for the number of taco trailblazers completing the trail! This year we are welcoming new locations, updated prizes and another Tacos-for-a-Year grand prize winner! The Taco Trail not only supports our Hispanic community and their restaurants, but it also brings friends and family together through great food. We love learning about participants’ favorite locations and experiences and are looking forward to another great year.”

Stay tuned for pop-up Taco Trail check-in opportunities at events such as the HOLA Cinco de Mayo Festival in Painesville or select Lake County Captains games when they play as the “Picantes de Lake County.” Plus, look for seasonal Taco Parties which will be held throughout the year! In addition, for the month of February, participants can earn bonus points (200 instead of 150) when they eat and check in at one of the four Tour Lake County-member locations which include Azteca, Barrio Willoughby, Señor Masa and Wild Burrito.
