Visit Halcyon Ledges This Fall For Cozy Delights
After nearly a decade of raising their family aboard a sailboat, traveling wherever the wind and tide would take them, Jenny Luhta and her family made the decision to come ashore. “We wanted to give our kids a taste of a more traditional life, one with roots, routine, and a sense of place. That choice brought us to Northeast Ohio, and eventually to a historic little gem now known as Halcyon Ledges.”
The story behind the restaurant is as unique as the building itself. It started when Jenny’s brother Dave tipped them off to a place called the Why Drive By—a spot with character and history. It once served as Perry Schoolhouse No. 4 and holds the oldest liquor license in Lake County. “We love old buildings and their energy so, we decided to give our Ashtabula Harbor location, Harbor Halcyon, a sister!” It was the perfect opportunity to create a location with its own identity and community spirit.
Luhta officially opened Halcyon Ledges with a simple dream: to build a place where people could gather, laugh, and eat well. She said, “We’re still actively involved in the maritime world, and the restaurants have been our vehicle to give back and try to help.”
Their menu features scratch-made American fare, crafted with high-quality ingredients, a lot of love, and gratitude. Whether you're in the mood for comfort food or something a little elevated, there's something for everyone. “And if you ask our kids? They'll tell you no one makes chicken tenders like we do,” said Luhta.
Perry has been incredibly welcoming since day one, and the support from this community has meant the world to Luhta and her family. “New friends have become like family, and that’s something we don’t take lightly,” said Luhta. It also has been said that there is a special energy at Halcyon Ledges—maybe it’s their amazing team (who truly care), the old building's charm, or maybe… it's the friendly ghosts that have decided to stick around and protect the building.
Looking ahead to the fall and holiday season, Luhta is looking forward to some cozy seasonal drinks to warm you up and is happy to help with catering for your gatherings and celebrations.
