Celebrate Earth Day at Wildwood Cultural Center- Press Release

 

Earth Day 2023

 

[Mentor, OH] – Join the Mentor Natural Resources Division and the Wildwood Cultural Center on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM as we celebrate Earth Day.

Guests can explore the splendor of Wildwood on a spring ephemeral wildflower hike with a Natural Resource Specialist, embark on a bird walk with an avian expert to observe local and migratory species, and test their skills at a nature scavenger hunt.

Specialists will deliver presentations on monarch butterflies as well as the importance native plant species serve in our Northeast Ohio ecosystem. A variety of crafts and activities related to natural themes will be available as well.

Local, eco-friendly vendors including Rabbit Food, We are Fat Rolls, Margery Ray Alpacas, Ogden Maple Farm, Papa Franks Workshop, Percy Homestead, Elderberry by Jen, Well Rooted Plants, Pirnat Garlic, and Weaver Bird Houses will be on hand with products available to purchase.

Schedule of Events

  • 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Earth-friendly vendors, wildlife organizations, games/crafts, Clothing swap, biology-themed scavenger hunt, and food for purchase.

  • 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Wilbur Krebs on the steel drums

  • 10:30 AM Wildlife/bird walk with a Natural Resource Specialist

  • 11:00 AM Monarch migration talk with Mary Ann Wagner

  • 12:00 PM Native Plants for your yard- Natural Resource Specialist

  • 12:30 PM Spring wildflower walk with- Natural Resource Specialist

  • 1:00 PM Ask a Naturalist Q&A

Free parking and admission. Cultural Arts programming at Wildwood is presented by Medical Mutual and supported by Cleveland ClinicMutsko Insurance ServicesLincoln ElectricMimi Vanderhaven, and the Tour Lake County.

The Wildwood Cultural Center is located at 7645 Little Mountain Road in Mentor.
