🍷New Winery Blooms in the Grand River Valley - Fossil Creek Winery
Tucked in the heart of Ohio’s Grand River Valley, Fossil Creek Winery is more than just a place to sip wine — it’s a family dream rooted in hard work and heritage.
Brothers Kevin and Don Jacobson grew up just next door to the land the winery now sits on. As kids, they played in the same creek that their guests now overlook from the winery’s serene deck. With a shared background in agriculture and construction, the two combined their love of the land with their professional skills to design and build Fossil Creek by hand. Their company, Custom Moulding & Millwork, LLC, helped shape every detail of the space. And it wasn’t just their hands involved — their families have been part of the journey from the ground up. Even Kevin’s sons, at just 16 and 11, are regulars at the winery, helping in the kitchen and bussing tables.
The dream? To build something lasting — a business that not only brings people together over great wine and beautiful views, but one their children can someday carry forward.
The location in Grand River Valley was a natural fit — quite literally. Kevin and Don already owned the land, and with such personal history tied to it, there was never any doubt where Fossil Creek should take root.
The journey began with planting their first vines in 2013, and by 2019, they were fully licensed and crafting their own wines. Today, Fossil Creek is proud to serve up locally made Riesling alongside a peaceful setting that sets it apart. The winery’s spacious deck offers guests a calm, welcoming atmosphere — perfect for warm summer nights filled with live music or peaceful Sunday morning yoga sessions overlooking the water.
As for what’s next, the winery has more to offer than just Riesling. With Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Vidal Blanc vines already planted, Fossil Creek is excited to expand its wine selection in the coming years.
Being part of the Grand River Valley wine community is something the Fossil Creek team treasures. With deep roots in the area and strong connections to their fellow winemakers, Kevin and Don see the region’s growth as a shared success. Every winery brings something unique, creating a rich and varied experience for wine lovers across the Valley.
At Fossil Creek, it all comes down to connection — to family, to the land, and to the community.
