Painesville Township’s Family Fun Day is coming back to the Lake County History Center on Aug. 22.
The annual late-August family event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., ending an hour earlier than in previous years.
“As in years past, it’s family-oriented, so typically all of our experiences are geared towards the families and people with children of any age,” said Township Administrator Hollie Bartone. “A lot of the adults and the parents like to come and enjoy it as well, along with the rocket ship ride car, they enjoy that a lot, face painting, balloon artists.
“They just like to come out and enjoy the day.”
This year’s festival will include an all-day foam party and inflatables, according to the township website. Face painting, balloon art and the Euclid Beach Rocket Ship Car will also be there all day.
Family Fun Day is also set to include a chainsaw carving artist, a magic show from 2 to 3 p.m. and Jungle Bob shows at 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., the website stated. There will also be games, a kids play area, raffle baskets and local vendors.
Bartone said that the food options will also be different this year. The township introduced food trucks for last year’s fun day.
“We’re trying to keep things evolving from year to year, not do the same thing anymore, so we do have a different variety of food trucks involved this year,” she said.
Bartone said in an email that this year’s trucks will be Frank and Shake, Eat at the Bus Stop, Vivander Cookie Mobile, Delish Mobile Kitchen and Sweet Doughlights.
According to previous comments from township officials, Family Fun Day was first held in 2014.
“The trustees like to give back and show the community that they appreciate their support and want to make things as cost-effective for the residents, or the visitors rather, and make sure that they understand how valued they are to us,” Bartone said.
The history center is located at 415 Riverside Drive. Entry and parking will be free.
