🏴‍☠️Pirate Triathlon/Paddle Triathlon

Lake Metroparks’ annual Pirate Triathlon, exclusively presented by Ken Ganley Subaru Wickliffe, returns Sunday, July 20 at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park. Whether you’re a first-time racer or a triathlon veteran, this fun and friendly event offers an approachable challenge for all ages and abilities.

Participants begin in the sheltered waters of Fairport Harbor, swimming 500 meters along the beach from west to east and back. The paddle division offers an alternative route by kayak, covering approximately two kilometers (1.24 miles). Once back on shore, racers take off on a 20-kilometer (12.43-mile) bike ride through the scenic streets of Fairport Harbor and Painesville Township. The final leg is a 5K (3.1-mile) run to the finish. Racers must bring their own gear for each segment.

“You don’t have to be a serious athlete to join the fun—just bring your gear and your sense of adventure,” says Lake Metroparks Outdoor Education Manager Brian Davidson. “Whether you're racing for a personal best or just to say you did it, the Pirate Triathlon is a treasured summer tradition.”

All participants must pre-register online by Sunday, July 13. No same-day or on-site registrations will be accepted. Entry is $40 per individual or $60 per relay team (processing fees apply).
