Woof, Wag & Wine: A Tasting Trail Supporting Local Animal Rescues
A Dog-Friendly Food & Wine Experience Set for June in the Grand River Valley
June is Ohio Wine Month, and what better way to celebrate than with your four-legged companion by your side? Three wineries in the Grand River Valley Wine Region—Grand River Cellars Winery & Restaurant, Debonné Vineyards, and Cask 307 Winery—are joining forces to present the Woof, Wag & Wine Trail, a unique, dog-friendly food and wine tasting event running throughout the entire month of June.
Participants are invited to visit each winery at their own pace—over the course of a day, a week, or the entire month—from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM daily. Tickets are $35 per person and include a small plate paired with two wines at each location, along with a special dog treat and a commemorative bandana for your pup. New this year, the event will benefit four local animal rescues, with a portion of proceeds from ticket and specialty drink sales going directly to support their missions.
“We love having this trail available all month long,” says Cindy Lindberg, President of Grand River Cellars and event coordinator. “It gives guests more flexibility to enjoy the wineries at their leisure, whether on a weekend or a quieter weekday. People love traveling with their dogs, and this trail is the perfect reason to do so.”
Each winery offers outdoor, dog-friendly seating areas (please note: dogs are not permitted indoors due to health code regulations). Specialty dog-themed drinks will be featured at each stop, with a percentage of sales donated to local rescues. Even guests who choose to leave their dogs at home will receive the treats and bandana to take home.
Proceeds will benefit:
Silver Fur Canine Rescue and Retirement
Lake Humane Society
Lake Erie Labrador Retriever Rescue
GRIN (Golden Retrievers in Need)
In addition to the trail, participants will receive a discount coupon to Ruff Life on the Lake, the region’s only dog-friendly restaurant offering indoor and outdoor dining spaces for both humans and their canine companions.
The Grand River Valley Wine Region continues to expand its dog-friendly offerings. Debonné Vineyards hosts Woof Wednesdays every Wednesday throughout the summer, while Grand River Cellars recently unveiled a dedicated pavilion for guests with dogs. The Ashtabula County Convention and Visitors Bureau has even created a dog-friendly winery map for visitors, and area accommodations like the Hampton Inn in Madison and The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake welcome pets.
