Immersive Nature

Not all parks are created equally and the diversity in the parks found throughout our area is unparalleled. From beaches to waterfalls, to rolling hills to steep cliffs you’ll find it all in Lake County. If you and your traveling partner are looking for a relaxing walk together, begin your tour of Lake Metroparks at Chagrin River Park in Willoughby. This sprawling, relatively flat park has almost three miles of trails and spans nearly 250 gorgeous acres along the Chagrin River. Visitors can easily walk down to the river and dip their toes in the water, or go for a river walk, where you’re bound to see folks fishing for steelhead trout. Stroll through the lush forest and get close-ups of grazing deer and keep your eyes open for many different species of birds throughout park. If you’re searching for a little more of a workout on your hike, visit the 400-acre Chapin Forest Reservation where nearly six miles of trails await. Walk up the Lucky Stone Loop Trail for one of the most amazing, panoramic views in all of northeast Ohio. So good you can almost see Canada on a clear day!

Towers + Canopy Walks

You may have been to an arboretum or botanical garden in your hometown or on another trip, but we promise you’ve never experienced anything like the 3,000-acre, Holden Arboretum. Distinct gardens are found throughout the park highlighting wildflowers, Rhododendrons, butterfly habitat and so much more. You can’t miss the Murch Canopy Walk on your trip to Holden where you’ll walk amongst the treetops on the 500-foot-long walkway that takes you more that 65 feet above the ground! Not high enough for you? The Emergent Tower at Holden Arboretum is spectacular as it rises 120 feet above the ground, taking you above the tree canopy. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking where you can see for miles, including Lake Erie which is almost 10 miles away! Before you go, check out Holden’s event calendar as they feature a rotating roster of seasonal activities at the Arboretum as well.

Wine & Unwind

After blowing off the dust and getting your steps in at one of our Metroparks or Holden Arboretum, it’s time to relax. What better way to relax than with a glass of award-winning, estate wine from one of the nearly 30 wineries of the Grand River Valley (GRV) here in Ohio’s Wine Country. Whether you kick back and take in the scenery and calm of the vineyards at Cask 307, Laurentia, Silver Crest or Baci or are looking for live entertainment at a winery like Debonne, Grand River Cellars, Stonegait, Laurello or Harpersfield Vineyard there’s an experience for everyone. When you’re ready to call it a night, couples have to check out the brand new, upscale cabins and lodging options at Standing Rock Farms in Madison. This former Boy Scout camp has been converted into gorgeous, modern cabins set in a stunning, picturesque setting with ponds, and nature all around. A perfect way to cap off a perfect tour of Lake County!
