Following the “overwhelming success and positive feedback” from last year’s inaugural Lake County Hot Chocolate Trail, which attracted nearly 2,000 participants, the “tasty way to explore Lake County” is back, bigger and better, according to Tour Lake County officials.
The flavorful journey invites residents to explore local coffee shops, cafes and unique locations where each business offers its own interpretation of the traditional holiday beverage.
Additionally, “the trail provides a cozy escape into the world of rich and decadent hot chocolates, each crafted with distinct flair and flavor.”
This year’s trail features 17 locations, an increase from 11 in 2024, stretching from Wickliffe to Madison Township.
The trail also includes several recently opened shops and restaurants, such as Blu Bee Café in Painesville Township, Monarca Ice Cream and Coffee in Madison Township, Halcyon Ledges restaurant in Perry, and Señor Masa, which is opening soon in Mentor.
In addition, several spots will serve signature items, from Turkish Hot Chocolate at Blu Bee to homemade Cold Cocoa ice cream at the Fairport Harbor Creamery, and a specially curated menu from Julbean’s Coffee and Crepes.
Participants can download a free digital passport on their phones and start tasting their way through the sweet expedition, officials added.
Moreover, individuals can scan a QR code at each location to earn 100 to 120 points per stop.
Visitors who accumulate 1,000 points will receive a free, limited-edition TourLakeCOcoa mug featuring a brand-new design.
“There’s nothing quite like a warm cup of hot chocolate to capture the spirit of the season,” said Tour Lake County’s Events and Engagement Manager Elyse Downie. “Our Hot Chocolate Trail is sure to stir up some nostalgia and holiday magic. This time of year, our charming small towns really come to life, offering that beloved Hallmark-style warmth to visitors and locals alike.”
