Unleash the Family Fun

A Family Weekend Packed with Core Memories!

Fun on the Farm

Cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, rabbits, horses, alpacas, and goats, oh my! While Lake Metroparks features many beautiful, scenic parks that are great for hikes and recreation, there’s nothing quite like the Farmpark. This nearly 250-acre working farm gives kids and families an educational and up-close look at animals and everything else you’d expect to find down on the farm. Make sure to check out the Farmpark event calendar before your trip to see what special events might be taking place, such as the Ice Festival, Maple Sugaring Weekends or Fall Harvest Weekends, to name just a few.

Beach Day

There’s just something so special and memorable about a day at the beach. What does a beach have to do with northeast Ohio? Lake County is home to the longest beach on Lake Erie, Headlands Beach State Park, and the family-friendly, sandy beach at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park, named one of the best beaches in America by Coastal Living Magazine. Lakefront Park rents kayaks and paddleboards during the summer and features paved parking, an ADA-accessible boardwalk, a huge playground, a full restroom facility, and a snack bar. Take a family photo in the giant Adirondack chair and share it with your friends and family!

Adventure Play at Jordan Creek Park

For parents and kids alike, there’s nothing better than finding and exploring a brand-new playground. When that playground is a totally unique, natural playground tucked into the woods it’s even more exciting! Take the time to visit Adventure Play at Jordan Creek Park, where kids will experience a 30-foot rope bridge that connects two lookout towers, a slackline forest, a 15-foot tall climbing wall, and, to top it off…a zipline! The park also includes 2.5 miles of trails and two creeks, Big Creek and Jordan Creek, that run through the property. Hike, play, and explore at Jordan Creek Park, and we promise the kids will get a great night of sleep when it’s time to call it a day!

Full Day of Fun

Many families plan their summer trips around festivals or events, and if you haven’t been to The FEST, you don’t know what you’re missing. This one-day, free family festival takes place annually on the first Sunday of August and welcomes over 30,000 people to Wickliffe in Lake County each year. This unforgettable day of music, community, and faith inspires attendees not for a day but for the entire year. While The FEST is known for its nationally known bands and live music, it’s also a day of food, activities, crafts, inflatables, and entertainment spanning the grounds of the festival. One of the headlining acts already announced for The FEST in 2024 is the Grammy-nominated group We The Kingdom, which will deliver an unforgettable performance.
