CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- If you’ve ever wanted to time-travel with a lantern — or at least pretend you’re in a very low-budget Revolutionary War movie — Concord Township has you covered.

The township is inviting residents to step back into the 18th century with its America 250 Cemetery Lantern Hike, scheduled for April 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Old Stone School at 7125 Ravenna Road. The free event is part of the nationwide push to mark America’s 250th birthday in 2026, a milestone being celebrated with events across the country. Locally, the evening will begin with participants learning about six Revolutionary War patriots with ties to the area, according to event information from the township.

From there, attendees will take part in a guided lantern hike to a nearby cemetery, blending local history with a nighttime walk designed to bring the past to life — no powdered wigs required.

The event is free, but pre-registration is required.

The lantern hike is one of several events happening across Lake County tied to the America 250 initiative. Organizers say the goal is to connect residents with the stories of those who lived through the country’s earliest days.
